Free books courtesy of Bookbub?! Part. 2

Hey ya'll,
so once again Bookbub.com never disappoints and has recommended an awesome group of books for me to read. As I stated in my last post Bookbub is available to anyone on the planet with a computer. All you have to do is sign up and answer a series of questions about which genres you like and in less than 24 hours you will receive an email consisting of recommended novels you should read that are at an affordable price.

Synopsis

After mind-controlling aliens turned humans into slaves, young Althea was able to break free of their mental snare. She thought she was alone, until she met Lucas — now the two of them must fight to free mankind.

My Opinion

I have always been obsessed with the movie The Invasion of the Body Snatchers! So when I saw this book I knew I had to tell my readers about it. This novel gives a sort of revival to the amazing Body Snatchers movie by bringing us a fresh story line about mind controlling aliens.

Synopsis

When Sydnee runs away from her horrible childhood to elegant New Orleans, she transforms from a peasant girl to a lady of high society. Dr. Fletcher Locke believes she’s pampered and spoiled — but will he change his mind when he discovers the secrets in her past?

My Opinion

I love how this novel has a rags to riches story line! With a menacing villain out to destroy her secret. Will the high society shun her based on her background or will she come above the labels? I love stories like I love my food to be prepared and that is with a fight! I can't wait to read how this ends.

Synopsis

Maggie MacKay is an expert at hunting down otherworldly creatures and sending them back where they belong. When vampires start to use Earth as their snack bar, she’s on the job. The only problem? The key to salvation has disappeared with her father...

My Opinion

So for those of you who are familiar with the Underworld films I believe you are sure to find your own solace until the next movie debuts by reading this novel by Author Danley!

Synopsis

William Craig will be executed for killing the man who assaulted his granddaughter... unless rookie reporter Deborah Jones can get to the bottom of a case that’s not as simple as it seems. Conspiracy, politics, and revenge combine in this riveting legal thriller.

My Opinion

Conspiracy thrillers are always a good read! I am always curious to find out what creative way the author has taken politics to a whole new level. This is definitely on top of my TBR list.

Synopsis

From a USA Today bestselling author comes this breathtaking saga through time. On an archaeological dig in Scotland, Brielle awakens a spell that sends her 400 years into the past — where she is married to the leader of the Conall clan, who, according to the history books, is about to be murdered...

My Opinion

This novel reminds me a lot of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander which is now a show on the Starz network. However, I still want to give it a try to see how this story progresses as well.

So in addition to all of this wonderful information all of these novels are available for free!

Authors Are Only Out For Blood!?

Hey ya'll,
So as I examine this "publishing" or "writing" industry that we are in I notice that their are a lot of people who make self-help books for authors though they have not been successful with their own novels.

I feel like people who state they know what's best for an author as far as sales go should be willing to make their sales an example within their self-help book. Now it doesn't have to show all that person may have made, but it should show some statistics to prove that their methods are authentic and not something they thought up just because they know there's a chance they can sucker someone out of money.

Now something brought up in a discussion I partook in with a few other authors is that "everyone has to learn through experience and trial and error."

Which I totally agree with! However, due to some authors wanting more information on how to best promote, market, or publish their books it could lead them to purchase a self-help or a how-to novel just to learn what the publishing "secret" is. When the there isn't any "secret" at all.

There are so many factors that play into whether you're a successful or accomplished author and not a single self-help book that I have seen has stressed that.

So lets take a look back at the title of this blog posting I have done. Are there really people out their who trick people out of their money? The answer is yes. It happens all the time, but in the publishing world it's hard to claim some book as being fraudulent especially when the methods may have been self discovered.

I just want to let you know that I am not saying all self-help books are bad. There may be some genuine guides that seek to help individuals on their publishing journey and I encourage you to proceed with caution as you implement their techniques.

However, something that I live by is that if you know your author then you know your reading. You tell me what you think that I mean. With that being said I am offering consultations to aid those in need. Contact me and together we can discuss a plan to help you move forward in the right direction.

I have a dedicated team that I work with toward a single goal which is to successfully promote and figure out a plan for individuals or writing groups in need. For more information please use the contact form located to the right or email: authorkmj@yahoo.com

Have you ever experienced anything like this? Have you read a self-help book? Did it help you? Tell me! I want to hear your thoughts on the matter <3

The Top 5 Books You Need To Read?!

Hey ya'll,
So there are a lot of great book that have hit the shelves this July. Out of all the novels I have seen only 5 of them have stood out to me. Take a look at which book made my list of must-reads for July!

Synopsis

A teenage girl awakens to find herself trapped in a coffin. She has no idea who she is, where she is, or how she got there. Fighting her way free brings little relief—she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified survivors. Beyond their room lies a corridor filled with bones and dust, but no people . . . and no answers.

My Opinion

I have never seen a book so original. I would love to see this as more of a movie due to how dramatic it is. If Wayward Pines by Blake Crouch had a cousin then this would be it.

Synopsis

The Scions were the four richest, most powerful guys at Valesca Academy, and they ruled the school with iron fists. Everyone wanted to date them or be them...everyone, that is, except Maya Lindberg, who just wanted to avoid them until she could graduate.

My Opinion

This book is basically a supernatural version of Mean Girls. I love it! Get it now because who doesn't like to read challenging situations involving heated characters.

Synopsis

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

My Opinion

Wouldn't it be nice if this massive Library existed? However, I don't know about not being able to own a book. My bookshelf would disagree with that decision. ;)

Synopsis

When sixteen-year-old Tess Kendrick is sent to live with her older sister, Ivy, she has no idea that the infamous Ivy Kendrick is Washington D.C.'s #1 "fixer,†? known for making politicians' scandals go away for a price. No sooner does Tess enroll at Hardwicke Academy than she unwittingly follows in her sister's footsteps and becomes D.C.'s premier high school fixer, solving problems for elite teens.

My Opinion

Wow! Talk about #Scandal for teens. This book is like Veronica Mars with the sophistication of Nancy Drew. Pick up this novel for a good mystery. Once it hooks you, it never lets go.

Synopsis

As the Underground is under siege by the Vaun siblings, Autumn and Luke Oaken juggle newfound problems that come with royal elves turning eighteen. The age-old question, “Who will be the next heir?” forces a divide between the twins. On top of the most important decision of their lives, they must join the rest of the Warriors as they fight to keep Arbor Falls safe.

My Opinion

Check this book out! It is a great series and would make for an awesome read :) Truly enjoyable for everyone of all ages.

Keep Reading! Until Next Time ;)

People Discriminate Against Books?!

Hey ya'll,
So something has been on my mind lately and it has been driving me crazy!

I am open minded when it comes to selecting a book to read. I do have my favorite genres, but I also like to look at other books from certain genres that may be amazing that I may have over looked. However, I have a friend that is not the same way. So here's the story:

My friend and I were at the library and we were browsing for some books. So I pick up this book (which I have now forgotten the name of...Sorry ) and I say "Hey, doesn't this look good!. Now my friend she doesn't even give this book the time of day. She rolls her eyes and says "I hate books like that."

Now me I'm puzzled because I'm thinking 'She hasn't even read this book and she's already hating it.'

So I ask her, "Why do you hate this book so much? Have you read it before?' and she replies to me "No. I have never read this book."

I ask her, "Well, why do you hate it."

"Because, have you seen the cover!"

"What's wrong with the cover?" I asked. I was curious and had to know because from what I could see the novel had a fresh cover like it hadn't been read and was new.

"It has someones face on it!"

"Okay?" I said, unsure of how that's a bad thing. So she says, "See now you know why I hate it!"

Can I just say I was sooooo disappointed in my friend right at that moment. If my friend looks at a book and automatically assumes its terrible just imagine how many more people have pet peeves about what their reading. So my advice to you readers is to give whatever book you're counting out a chance.

There are some great books out there that have such amazing story-lines so don't pass it up because of one quirk you find "distracting'.

Are you or someone you know just like my friend? If not, what's you're biggest pet peeve when it comes to purchasing a book? Tell me! I'm all ears <3 Until Next Time ;)

Book Review #8: Escape from Witchwood Hollow by Jordan Elizabeth

Hey ya'll,
So I had the amazing opportunity to read the incredible novel, Escape from Witchwood Hollow by the wonderful Jordan Elizabeth.

I have never read a novel that has so many mysteries in one story! I loved every moment of this book.
Honoria the main character in this novel had such a lovely personality. I enjoyed getting to know her and her family as the story takes place in the small town of Arnn.

However, as I learned about Arnn through the multiple discoveries of the towns past made by her and her friend Leon I was able to see that the locals are all troubled by folktales involving the mysterious Witchwood Hollow, a place where people can go in, but almost never can come out.

As I read Elizabeth's book I thought that she brilliantly executed this novel by making sure that all the intertwining story-line's came together perfectly at the end. I was not disappointed at all and I commend her for doing such a fantastic job on giving us readers a story that truly takes on a journey.

When I came to the end of her novel Elizabeth stated that this novel was actually an idea for a movie she and her friends had decided to do. And I couldn't agree more! Except I'd prefer to see this as a television show due to how daring and introspective the plot is.

I am still in awe! Elizabeth's novel gave me chills and made my heart race due to revelations made within her story. I loved every minute of it!

Have your read this novel? If yes, what did you think about? If no, then what are you waiting for?! This book is awesome :) Until Next Time ;*

The Must Read of 2015!!!!

Hey ya'll,
So I have been overwhelmed by how many books have been published this July. One book that has completely taken my breath away is by an author who is one of my favorites which would be Harper Lee.

As most of us know Harper Lee wrote the iconic fictional novel, To Kill A Mockingbird which is a story about a man named Atticus Finch as he represents a black man who is being charged for the rape of a young white woman during the 1930's in the deep south through the eyes of his two children Jem and Scout Finch.

Being given the chance to read To Kill A Mockingbird in high school was one of the best opportunities I could have had. I feel Lee's novel showed us racism up front and taught us valuable realistic lessons about the justice system and human morale. This is definitely a novel worth the read and I would also recommend watching the movie after you have read the novel to see the emotion held within this book more visually.

This novel is absolutely eye-opening!

Which is why I was so happy when it was announced that Lee would continue the series at the age of 89 with the second novel in the series Go Set A Watchman which insiders are stating was created before #TKAMB.

Make sure you get this novel on pre-order now by clicking one of the links above because this is sure to be another hit!

Have you read To Kill A Mockingbird? What did you think? Did you catch the movie instead? Tell me, I'm all ears! Until Next Time ;)
