Memorial Day Novels that Make Me Proud ♡

KMJ Book Reveals would like to thank our troops for their service and honor those who have passed  and thank them for all that they have done for our country!

Hey ya'll,
So I thought what better way to take remembrance than by reading about how Memorial Day came about. As most of us know Memorial Day is an American holiday in which we honor men and women who have died in the U.S. military as well as those who are continuing their service.

I rate this novel 5 stars! When I read this novel two years ago I enjoyed how much it revealed about the history of America. As each chapter went by I was bombarded by so many interesting facts about not just our military, but also the shaping of our music and economy. This novel is not a light read so I suggest that you read a few pages a day and take a few notes so you can receive the knowledge Halberstam has placed in his book. I felt that this novel was well executed and worth the read due to how explicit it is in detailing the United States history during the time period of the fifties.

Now a major motion picture!

In boyhood, Louis Zamperini was an incorrigible delinquent.
As a teenager, he channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics. But when World War II began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to a doomed flight on a May afternoon in 1943. When his Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean, against all odds, Zamperini survived, adrift on a foundering life raft. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will.

I am not a person who is into historical fiction that much, but when I read the back of this book it made me want to read it! This novel is perfect for those of us that can both read the book and watch the movie while placing no judgement on either side. I love how author Hillenbrand is telling us a story about someone else's life and executes it as well as she does. This novel is definitely worth the read because it is compelling, refreshing, and makes you have a deeper understanding of what it means to be alive.
Make sure you all put this on your to read list!

Book Inspired Prom Dress!

Hey ya'll,
So lately I have been busy with launching the release of my new young adult novel, Laws of Passion. Also, I have not only been prepping for senior year, but I just recently went to prom. And with the end of prom I still find myself wanting to live that moment over again just because of how amazing it was.

However, as I looked through countless photos to get the perfect dress I ran across one that was of a girl who made her own book inspired prom dress which really caught my attention.

As we all know Twilight is such a phenomenal book-turned-movie franchise that captured the hearts of many young adults all over the world and for one fan it was so awesome that it became their inspiration for a prom dress.

What I love so much about this dress is how original it is. A lot of people say that she should have worn something different and that she wasted her time making this dress. However, I on the other hand am proud of her for creating something that is one-of-a-kind. If someone made a dress out of my book I would be so honored and happy as an author to see such love for my work.

I really love how she put their faces on both sides of her dress. I thought that this was too cute!

Have you see other book inspired prom dresses? Send me a picture using the comment form! What do you think about her dress?

Free Ebooks courtesy of Bookbub?!

Hey ya'll,
So some of you may or may not know this, but there is this amazing website called Bookbub and it allows it's users to obtain notifications via email on books that are either free or available for only one dollar. Now I know that I am not the only one who has issues when choosing a book. Sometimes I find hundreds of books that look so appealing while other times I may only luck out and find one or two books that appeal to me. However, when I went on Bookbub I had no problem finding the perfect book to read.
At the beginning when you register Bookbub asks you to select the genres that you like and ever since I did I have no problem finding great books all the time.
Just recently I received an email letting me know about book bargains tailored to my interests so I am going to share a few of them with you!

Synopsis:
If you knew about The Tournament, you'd know why they want it kept secret. People don't like to hear that state-sponsored war games are going on under their noses, in their cities, and on their streets. The world isn't ready to know that the most powerful among us can shape the future by wagering on these fights. People wouldn't understand if they learned that teams in The Tournament have the freedom to do almost anything, anywhere, to win.
The Tournament was supposed to be the perfect game, and the perfect secret. Frank Youngsmith, a hapless insurance agent, was supposed to be a nobody, none the wiser. But sometimes things just don't work out like they're supposed to.

My opinion:
The cover was not what caught my attention. Though it is a good cover I was more intrigued by the synopsis. Blue Fall reminds me more of famous book-turned-movies The Hunger Games and Divergent. It seems mysterious and very action-oriented. This novel is the perfect read if your day seems a bit slow and you need it to pick up again.

Synopsis:
Unjustly sentenced to death, Eilidh ran--away from faerie lands, to the streets of Perth, Scotland. Just as she has grown accustomed to exile, local police discover a mutilated body outside the abandoned church where she lives. Recognising the murder as the work of one of her own kind, Eilidh must choose: flee, or learn to tap into the forbidden magic that cost her everything.

My opinion:
Okay, so I have not been into faeries since Peter Pan and True blood who had that 2 season thing where faeries became an important part of the story. However, I like this book! The cover is amazing and the anticipation that the synopsis gives me jut makes me want to jump right into the story so I can be taken on this adventure in a place I don't really need to imagine since it is based on the world around us now. This is a really cute book and I look forward to getting my hands on a copy.

Synopsis:
Life for Riley ends when her young children die in her arms…victims of a global viral outbreak that claims the lives of everyone she’s ever known. Left to fend for herself with only a dog as her companion, she sets out on a journey to find others, leaving notes everywhere she goes…hoping that one day someone will come looking for her. When Riley meets the handsome yet mysterious Connor on the streets of Downtown San Diego, they form a bond unlike either has experienced before. When the things that go bump in the night turn out to be more than nightmares, the trio sets off for the mountains in search of an isolated resort where they can hunker down, away from the ominous shadows of the dead city streets. The peace and tranquility of the woods isn’t enough to keep the darkness away for long though and soon Riley and Connor are forced to accept that the World and the few people left alive in it will never be the same. The shadows of their past may haunt them forever…threatening to destroy what little dreams they have left of a future unless they fight to stay in the light and never lose their hope.

My opinion:
This book seems like it will make me cry and that's a good thing! I want to be stressed out and have my mind thinking about things we as human beings would not normally be prepared for. I love this book because it excites, entertains, and  transports the reader to another state of their mind.
